WEN Hair Care Scam – What is True?

Is there any truth to the WEN hair care scam the hair care forums are lighting up with? The answer to this question depends very much on who you ask. Online message boards and forums are full of consumers who love the product. However, there seem to be just as many consumers who hate this product and cry foul with the way the company bills.

The pros to this hair care system are that it seems to be awesome for all hair types especially for color treated, dry and damaged hair. A lot of women have received results from this product that even salons cannot achieve. It adds moisture and leaves curls feeling soft and manageable.

The cons to this hair care systems are that it is expensive and some individuals have been billed for a membership they did not think they agreed to. A lot of consumers say they cannot justify the cost. Also, a lot of customers claim WEN is nothing more than a scam. Many consumers claim they were automatically signed up for a monthly membership minus their permission when they purchased this product. One of the most negative reviews is that it is virtually impossible to receive a refund or cancel the membership.

One consumer claims the product did absolutely nothing for their hair. It actually left their hair feeling more oily and weighed down then before. They complained about the product not cleaning their hair at all. Deciding to be proactive, they brought their complaint to WEN where they were told they could return the product to receive a refund. They found out after the fact that they had been automatically signed up for a monthly membership that cost $29.95 per month. This individual called to cancel, concerned because they had not given permission to be signed up for any automatic debits for any type of membership. The representative they spoke to said their membership would be canceled as soon as the returned product was received.

The three months passed, the monthly debits were taken out, and the consumer finally called up customer support again. This time the consumer was told the product had not been received. Therefore, they would continue to be billed a monthly membership fee until it arrived. The money already debited would not be refunded.

Another consumer had a better experience. They received the product and found it to be generally effective. It did add moisture and bounce to their hair. The monthly membership fee was excessive considering their financial situation. They canceled their membership with WEN through Guthy Renker. They did not experience any extenuating circumstances when canceling. After calling the 800 number and going through several prompts, they were transferred to billing and able to close their account with no complications. Of all the places where the product is available, Guthy Renker seems to have a favorable report.

How much truth is there to the so-called WEN hair care scam? You be the judge. There are probably as many negative thoughts as there are satisfied and happy customers. As with any product, be sure you read all of the fine print before turning any payment information over. Following such a simple rule will ensure you know what will be charged up front prior to commitment.
